Add Linky to your Discord server

This adds the hosted Linky bot. You do not need to download code, create a bot account or run a server.

Add Linky to Discord and choose a server you manage.
In that server, run /setup enabled: true. You need Manage Server permission.
Share a fresh Instagram, TikTok or X link in a channel Linky can access. Use /help to check whether it is enabled there.

Linky sends nothing when it joins. Both commands reply privately. Discord may show its own system join notice.

The hosted bot stays online independently of your computer. Hosting and updates are handled by Linky's operator. Self-hosting is an optional alternative for people who want to run their own copy.

What enabling changes

Enabling applies throughout the server, including new accessible channels and threads. The choice survives bot restarts. Use channel permissions to keep Linky out of a channel. Private threads must be accessible to the bot too.

Existing operator-configured installations can be limited to particular channels. Running /setup enabled: true in one of those servers deliberately changes it to server-wide access.

Turn it off

Run /setup enabled: false to stop reposting in the entire server. Removing Linky also stops its access. Settings and messages already sent are not automatically erased; see Privacy.

Nothing happened

Check Linky's permissions, then try a new supported message. Linky does not scan old messages or rerun on edits. The troubleshooting guide separates permission problems from missing previews.
