Fix TikTok previews in Discord

Linky rewrites supported TikTok video, photo and mobile share links through tnktok so Discord can attempt a preview. The hosted bot is free to add. An admin runs /setup, chooses channels in the private panel and selects Enable server. You do not need to run your own server.

Which TikTok links does Linky recognize? #

HTTPS links on tiktok.com, www.tiktok.com and m.tiktok.com can use video, photo or /t/ share paths. Short links on vm.tiktok.com and vt.tiktok.com can contain a share code at the root. Linky removes the original subdomain and query string when rewriting them.

These are URL-shape examples, not verified posts. Profile links, the TikTok homepage and unrecognized paths stay unchanged. Fragments after # are retained.

Why might a short TikTok link fail? #

A short link depends on its share-code redirect and the preview provider resolving it. A recognized URL can therefore be rewritten without producing a playable embed. Open the original link and try the full public video or photo URL if the short version fails. A deleted, private or restricted post may remain unavailable.

For an occasional fix, use /fix link: or a message's Apps → Fix with Linky action. Personal installation makes these commands available without installing a bot in the server, where Discord permits them. You can also replace a supported TikTok hostname with tnktok.com yourself. These methods use the same provider and have the same availability limits.

What if Linky did nothing? #

An admin can run /diagnose link: in the affected channel to check the URL, channel scope, permissions and recent provider observations. In Replace mode, Linky checks the attributed replacement before deleting the original. A failed preview leaves the original and offers Retry. Choose Reply mode to keep the original and receive a reply instead.

Linky processes new messages from people and updates its tracked replies when their sources change. It does not scan history or start fixing an unrelated old message just because it was edited. Other bots and unsupported message types are skipped.
